Personal Statement
I am best known for my work in anodised aluminium, and for more than twenty five years have made jewellery using my own original ways of working and colouring the metal. My new work in silver and gold explores these possibilities further, using the nature of the material itself to create form and surface texture by stressing and distortion. By combining metals within a piece, and by using metal colouring techniques, freshwater pearls and semi-precious stones, I hope to bring a subtle intensity of colour to the work, and a balance between the modern, the organic, the sophisticated and the primitive. However, I am most concerned with how a piece feels when it is worn. My jewellery comes alive when it finds a wearer, forming a sensual relationship with her and becoming part of her expression of herself.
