Personal Statement
Inspired by Nature and Alchemy, Ornella’s jewellery is formed through a number of experimental approaches. She is fascinated by growth patterns within the natural environment and geological formations - her work is often characteristic of the French Alps.
Ornella's passion for the history of earth’s creation and the genesis of life determines her choice of her materials. She combines minerals, which are the compounds out of which every living thing are made, with vegetal elements, to create unusual eye-catching organic shapes. Her original one-off pieces are meticulously hand-carved and have a strong sculptural aspect. Each piece takes on the appearance of a wearable little landscape or garden.
Through her jewellery, and the uniqueness and beauty of her materials (which are all sustainably sourced) Ornella pays homage to nature. In doing so she explores its vulnerability and the impact of that man has had on the environment. Her work is a poetic reunification of mankind and nature and offers a symbolic message of life.
