| Caption: | Millennium Punch Bowl and Ladle, 2001.
Silver parcel-gilt. This major piece weighs around 46 kilos and was commissioned by the Sheffield Assay Office for display in Sheffield's new Millennium Galleries. Each of the 2000 jacks are cast, the plank is fabricated from thick gauge scored and folded sheet, the bowl was spun, the ornate fluted interior is a single large piece of electro-forming (gilded). The ladle bowl was spun, the handle is partly forged from solid bar and partly formed up hollow from sheet and soldered. This commission results from a unique design and production collaboration between four Sheffield-based designer/makers: Alex Brogden, Chris Knight, Brett Payne and Keith Tyssen. |
